About me
Full Name: Siddharth Mehla
Age: 26 years
Marital Status: Single
Before becoming a Sister14:
Born in Delhi. Spent most of my childhood and teenage years in Karnal (Haryana), a small town around 125 kms from Delhi. Did my schooling from St. Theresa’s Convent School, Karnal (till Std. 10th), and from DPS, RK Puram, Delhi (Stds. 11th and 12th). Joined REC Kurukshetra; left it after completing the 1st year, to join IIT Delhi.
My father worked for the Agri. Dept, Govt. of Haryana - he retired in 2005. My mother, along with my father, manages our family farm. I have a younger brother, Rajat, who says that he wants to be a lawyer. He is a darling - is quite straightforward and practical, unlike me, I guess.
Post Kara (mis)adventures:
Kara (https://sister14.wordpress.com) was fun. I would give my right hand to re-live those times. After the B.Tech in Civil Engg. from IIT Delhi, I joined Evalueserve, a business research & analytics company, in Gurgaon. Worked there for 2 years. Stayed in the midst of many dear friends (read Sister14′ers), and was happy. Fell in love for the first time in my life, only to realise later that expressing it was - and will remain for ever - the biggest mistake of my life.
Went to IIMA. I will tell you something you already know - the place is ruthlessly competitive. Spent most of my time thinking, or in the company of a few very good friends, 2 of whom happened to be my batchmates from Kara, and sister14′ers as well. Upon graduating from IIMA in 2006, I joined a bank in Singapore. My job involves trading currencies.
Atleast 5 times everyday, I am confronted by this weird thought that if I am to know peace and happiness in this life, then I should be doing one of the following:
- farming
- jointly running an all-sister14 enterprise
- writing
But 1) requires guts; 2) requires an idea and some interference by fate - for all of us should be frustrated with our present and excited about a common future, at the same time; and 3) requires talent. Therefore, I am kind of prepared to swim with the flow and survive on those 5 pills everyday.
Meet my better half:
Nah - I am, or shall I say ‘have become’, excessively risk-averse. Just not prepared to take that leap of faith anymore, atleast not anytime in the near future.
Upcoming events in my life:
- 5th August ‘06 - Khanna gets married
- 10th December ‘06 - Gaur gets married.
